Area Launches

Unfortunately, thanks to California fire regulations, it’s illegal to launch a model rocket without local fire marshal approval. But, there are some clubs in the general area (I use that term a little loosely).

  • LUNAR, the Livermore Unit of the National Association of Rocketry.  We fly each month at NASA’s Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, in Mountain View.  During the winter, we fly from a cattle ranch in Farmington.
  • SARG, the Sacramento Area Rocketry Group.  SARG flies from a field north of Sacramento.

The national governing bodies of the hobby:

  • NAR, the National Association of Rocketry.
  • Tripoli Rocket Association.

Get out and fly!
